Keatington New Town is part of the Keatington Beach Association (KBA)! The Association includes Keatington Cedars, Keatington Cedars II, Keatington Knolls, Keatington Meadows, Keatington New Town, Keatington Woods, Scripps Lakeview, Scripps on the Lake, and Lochmoor on the Lake. The beach is located at the east end of lake Voorheis.
Directions Joslyn Road to west on Joslyn Court (south end of Canterbury Village). Enter the gated beach entrance with the KBA access card. The Beach entrance is located on the left side of the road.
The following rules have been established to ensure the pleasure and safety of all residents as well as maintain the value and beauty of the beach. Please remember the beach personnel are present to ensure safety for everyone; therefore, the Association has delegated authority to them to maintain order and enforce the rules established by KBA. The cooperation of all will help keep our beach safe and a fine asset for today and tomorrow.
ADMISSION AND HOURS
Summer Season: Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
A KBA access card must be used when using the beach.
Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult member 21 years or older at all times.
Guests may accompany members who are displaying a current tag. (Maximum (5) guests per tag.)
The beach is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The gate is locked at 10:00 p.m.
Winter Season: November 1 through April 1 - gate permanently locked and road access closed to vehicles.
BOATING REGULATIONS
All boats must be registered to a K.B.A. member and MUST DISPLAY A K.B.A. STICKER ON THE PORT BOW (Left front) To obtain a sticker, you must provide:
A $10.00 fee per water vehicle.
A valid Michigan driver's license with a current qualified association residence address.
A current boat registration with a qualified association residence address and properly displayed MC numbers.
A Beach access card.
Each boat trailer must have 2 stickers, 1 for the boat and 1 for the trailer. Both stickers should be displayed on the left side. If unable to get boat stickers at the beach, contact your beach representative. Stickers will be available from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Boats are not permitted within the area inside the swimming buoys and must reduce to a "no wake speed" when within 100 ft of the buoys and docks. The beach has been registered with the State of Michigan as an official swimming area. Violations, along with the violator's boat registration number, may be reported to the Oakland County Sheriffs Department.
High Speed boating and water skiing are permitted from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. NO WAKE hours are from 7:30 PM until 11:00 AM.
Lake traffic must flow in a counter-clockwise direction.
ALL STATE LAWS REGARDING PROPER BOATING PROCEDURES APPLY TO LAKE VOORHEIS. Please discuss these rules as well as State boating regulations with the entire family.
HELP KEEP OUR LAKE CLEAN. PLEASE CLEAN YOUR BOAT BEFORE AND AFTER LAUNCHING.
EQUIPMENT & FACILITIES
No fires are permitted on the beach. Please confine cooking fires to the existing barbecue pits or to grills you have brought from home. When disposing of hot charcoal, it is imperative that you use only the metal container labeled for this use. DO NOT USE PLASTIC TRASH CONTAINERS FOR CHARCOAL DISPOSAL!
Picnic tables may not be removed from the beach area.
The raft, buoys, and safety ropes are not to be removed or tampered with in any way.
The raft capacity is limited to five (5) adults or 1,000 pounds. Pushing, shoving, rocking, diving or any other horseplay is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
BEACH PARTIES
A fifty dollar ($50.00) non-refundable rental fee for the pavilion or tent is required at the time of registration. Checks should be made payable to: Keatington Beach Association.
If you have more than ten (10) guests, a $50.00 deposit is required to reserve a date at the beach. You must notify K.B.A. personnel two weeks prior to the meeting date. The deposit is refundable if the gathering area is left clean, free of debris and without damage to K.B.A. property. Repair costs exceeding $50.00 will be assessed to the K.B.A. member.
If having a party please carpool.
No beach parties can be registered on the following holidays: ' MEMORIAL DAY, INDEPENDENCE DAY, LABOR DAY
Registered parties will be assigned three (3) picnic tables.
OTHER REMINDERS
No smoking allowed within the beach areas. (smoking will be allowed in the parking lot area only.)
No glass containers of any kind are permitted on the beach, boat dock or any surrounding areas.
No vehicles are permitted in the beach areas. This includes cars, trucks, mini-bikes, motorcycles and bicycles.
NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ON THE BEACH OR THE SURROUNDING AREA.
No personal property, including boats, tubes, rafts, canoes, ice shanties, etc., may be stored at the beach overnight, either on a temporary or permanent basis. Items so left will be removed at the owner's expense.
